Lawyers have filed a class-action lawsuit against McDonald's on behalf of New York children who have suffered health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.

In federal court in Manhattan on Wednesday, a lawyer alleged that the fast-food chain has created a national epidemic of obese children. Samuel Hirsch argued that the high fat, sugar and cholesterol content of McDonald's food is "a very insipid, toxic kind of thing" when ingested regularly by young kids.

The plaintiffs include a Bronx teen who ate every meal at McDonald's for three years while living in a homeless shelter. Another is a 13-year-old boy from Staten Island who says he ate at McDonald's food three to four times a week and is now 5-foot-4 and 278 pounds.

McDonald's lawyer Brad Lerman insisted the lawsuit was a frivolous attempt to cash in on the Golden Arches, "the kind of lawsuit that shouldn't be in court."

McDonald's has asked Judge Robert Sweet to dismiss the case, arguing those who filed the claims cannot show their health woes were caused by Big Macs and insisting the company has never misled customers about its food. The judge did not immediately rule on the request.

What the hell is this world coming to that we can make bad choices and blame everyone but ourselves? I am so sick and tired of people making a quick buck off their fucking stupidity. Why aren't the parents taking any of the blame? They obviously drove their little fat ass kids to McDonalds to get food day in and day out. Why aren't they at home making healthier meals for their kids? Why don't they make the effort to drive the little fat bastards to a gym instead of driving them to McDonalds? I know from experience that you don't just suddenly get fat one day. It's gradual and you can see it and feel it. The parents had plenty of time to see that their food choices for their kids weren't the best. They could have stopped taking them to get fast food at any time-if they were really concerend. But if they did that, they'd have to act more like parents and monitor their kids' food more closely and they would actually have to cook for them. But no, they wanted to give their kids fast food because it is more convenient for the parents. I think these parents should be charged with child endangerment for continuing to take their kids to eat fast food after they began seeing them gain weight from it. Obviously I am going overboard just a bit, but so are they. Fast food was never meant to be consumed every fucking day. Fast food companies have never made the claim that they provide their consumers with healthy food. Their ads have never stated "Eat a Big Mac-it's healthy for you and your family". If you have children, it is up to you to make the right choices for them. If you fail, you have no one to blame but yourself. I hope the judge in this case sees how frivolous it is and throws it out.
